Due to predicted snow accumulation beginning later this evening and continuing until 5 am tomorrow morning, the South Plainfield School District will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening schedule on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The schedule is as follows: - High School (9- 12) - 9:15 a.m. - 2:25 p.m. - Middle School (7 - 8) - 9:35 a.m. - 2:20 p.m. - Grant School (5 - 6) - 9:00 a.m. - 2:10 p.m. - Elementary Schools (K- 4) - 10:05 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Preschool Full Day 10:30 a.m. - 3:25 p.m. This reflects a 90-minute delayed opening. Bus pick-ups for students who are regularly bused to school will be 90 minutes after their regularly scheduled morning pick-up time. Before care is cancelled. Lunch will be available in all schools

Please be advised, the Traditions Complex will be performing road work within the complex Monday, October 7th, Tuesday, October 8th, and Wednesday, October 9th. All transportation students will be picked up and dropped off at the entrance of the complex on New Durham Road. Please arrive to the bus stop at your regularly scheduled bus pickup time. All students will be dropped off in the afternoon at the same bus stop, the entrance of the complex on New Durham Road. The South Plainfield School busses will not be allowed to drive into the complex until Thursday, October 10th. Thank you for your understanding.

Student Council is hosting a Pajama Day on Friday, October 4, 2024. It is a $3 donation. All money raised will be donated to victims of Hurricane Helene.

Announcement: We are excited to announce that our school counselor, Ms. St. Victor, will be leading a special book fundraiser, Keep it Growing, for Riley School. In October, children’s book author and speaker Shanna Truffini will visit our school to present her inspiring #PullYourWeeds Assembly to all students. Ahead of this assembly, Riley School is participating in the Keep it Growing fundraiser. The students at John E. Riley Elementary were very fortunate today to experience the Grand Falloons assembly, "Professor W's Earth Science Circus: "Our Earth, WHAT A GAS!" They learned all about the innerworkings of our planet’s ecosystem.

Kindergarteners at John E. Riley Elementary School welcomed some new students to Ms. Tuohy's class last week. Over a dozen baby chicks were hatched from eggs in an incubator in the classroom. Staff and students alike were excited to watch the process unfold.

The South Plainfield School District has been closely monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13, 2024. According to the latest predictions, rain is expected to start this evening, transitioning into snow between 5am-6am. Heavy snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are expected until 11 a.m., leading to a total accumulation of 5-8 inches. Unfortunately, this coincides with our morning commute, posing hazardous driving conditions. As a result, the South Plainfield School District will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13, 2024 to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Please be advised, all sporting events and practices are being rescheduled, and coaches will be reaching out to individual team members with further updates.
