As a result of the anticipated heavy rain and flooding predicted to occur throughout the South Plainfield Borough, the South Plainfield School District will be operating on a delayed opening schedule for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
South Plainfield High School start time 9:15a.m.
South Plainfield Middle School start time 9:35 a.m.
Grant School start time 9:00 a.m.
All Elementary Schools start time 10:05 a.m.
Preschool start time 10:30 a.m.
Transportation will be operating on a delayed schedule. Please be advised an email was sent to parents/guardians previously alerting you to any changes to bus times and pickup/drop-off locations due to heavy rain and flooding in the Borough. Please check your email to see if your child’s bus stop location has been affected. You may also view the emergency flood bus stop locations by visiting the district website at www.spboe.org
Keep in mind, the High School, Middle School, and Grant School continue to be affected by the emergency construction along Lane Avenue. We ask that you follow the same traffic pattern you followed at pickup this afternoon. The emergency construction is expected to cause heavy traffic delays; please plan accordingly.
Student breakfast and lunch will be served on an amended schedule. Please check the district website throughout the school day for any changes to after school activities or athletic games and practices. Before care is cancelled for tomorrow morning, January 10, 2024.
We realize the morning commute will be difficult for our South Plainfield families and encourage you to drop your children at school on time, however if you are running late, take your time. Your children will not be marked late. The safety of the students, faculty, and staff is our top priority.

Kennedy School students could not wait for the snow to come and winter to begin tomorrow for their first snowball fight in Physical Education class. Thank you Ms. Mahon for teaching the students the proper way to throw a ball, especially a snowball! Happy Holidays everyone!
The SPHS Choir gave a winter concert for the Kennedy students today. Thank you for a wonderful performance. The students really enjoyed it.
Kennedy School thanks the South Plainfield Elks for visiting our school. Thank you for providing each 3rd-grade student with a dictionary and Judy Blume's Freckle Juice book. We appreciate our partnership with the South Plainfield Elks each year!
You won't catch Kennedy School sleeping on raising money! So far, Kennedy School has raised $1,686 for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) by wearing pajamas on December 1st. We appreciate all of our students and their families for supporting this wonderful cause!
Congratulations to Kennedy School students and staff for raising $603 towards our SPHS Senior Scholarships this year! The swishmallow fundraiser was very successful! Special congratulations to Spencer Lillia, Omar Abdeljaber, and Mila Nelson for winning the raffle! #KennyRocks
Our Kennedy School students earned "Tiger Bucks" for exemplifying good character and choices during the month of October. Congratulations to our Tiger Buck winners this month! At JFK, we continue to focus on positive behavior and rewarding students for making good choices!
Kennedy School is in the Halloween Spirit! What a wonderful Trunk or Treat event last night! Thank you to the JFK PTSO and all of the families who decorated their cars and attended! Kennedy Rocks!

Kennedy School has welcomed the month of October with a number of schoolwide events and programs. One of the events was the NED Mindset Show. This show taught the students about the power of "YET" and encouraged the students to never give up!

The month of April focused on Autism acceptance at Kennedy School. We learned about Autism Spectrum Disorder and concluded with our annual "Bubbles for Autism" event. The students at JFK continue to realize that our diverse school community is a great place to learn and grow!
The Kennedy School students and Character Education Program have begun the transition into the last marking period of the school year by learning about our "hardworking" staff! Our school paid tribute to our Instructional Aides and thanked them for being so hardworking!
The South Plainfield School District hosted their second annual Band Festival Day on March 29 at the South Plainfield Middle School. 316 band students participated. Every band student from the High School, the Middle School, the Grant School and all four elementary schools participated. Each school played one piece by themselves and then they played it again with the older schools joining in.
