Due to predicted snow and icy conditions the South Plainfield School District will operate on a 90-minute delayed opening schedule on Thursday, February 6, 2025. The schedule is as follows: High School (9 - 12) - 9:15 a.m. - 2:25 p.m. Middle School (7 - 8) - 9:35 a.m. - 2:20 p.m. Grant School (5 - 6) - 9:00 a.m. - 2:10 p.m. Elementary Schools (K - 4) - 10:05 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Preschool Full Day - 10:30 a.m. - 3:25 p.m. This reflects a 90-minute delayed opening. Bus pick-ups for students who are regularly bused to school will be 90 minutes after their regular scheduled morning pick-up time. Before care is cancelled. Lunch will be available in all schools. Please note – We will continue to monitor the weather conditions and may change the district status from a delayed opening to a full closure. If that should happen, a call and email will be sent from the district by 7:30 a.m.

Mrs. Gil’s 2nd-grade art class at Kennedy School explored the world of abstract art through the lens of renowned artist Frank Stella! Students learned about Stella’s vibrant and dynamic style and used their creativity to design their own abstract masterpieces featuring circles. At Kennedy School, we encourage our young artists to be proud of their incredible imagination and skills by bringing their ideas to life. Great job, 2nd graders—we are so proud of your amazing work! 🎨✨

🎄⛸️ A big shout-out to our amazing Kennedy School Physical Education teacher, Mrs. Mahon, for bringing the magic of the holiday season to the gymnasium! Always innovative and inspiring, Mrs. Mahon created a unique "ice skating" activity for her students, with bright lights and festive vibes. The gym transformed into their favorite holiday pond, where students glided, laughed, and embraced the joy of movement. Thank you, Mrs. Mahon, for your continued creativity and dedication to making physical education fun and memorable for our students at Kennedy School!

The South Plainfield Senior Center volunteers visited Kennedy School to share their love of reading with our kindergarten students. The event was a heartwarming experience as our youngest learners eagerly listened to engaging stories our senior community members read. This special collaboration highlighted the power of intergenerational connections and the importance of fostering a love for reading at an early age. Partnering with the South Plainfield Seniors was a wonderful way to unite the community, creating lasting memories for our students and guests. We look forward to more opportunities to connect and grow as a community. Special thank you to Mrs. Olano for organizing this great event.
