In conjunction with Neurofibromitosis (NF1) Awareness Month, on May 21st, Kennedy School had a walk to benefit the Children’s Tumor Foundation. Kennedy chose to support this foundation in honor of one of its students, Nora Klimchak. Nora is a first grader at Kennedy School. She was diagnosed with NF1 and has a large brain tumor pushing on her hypothalamus and optic nerve causing her eyesight in her right eye to deteriorate. In an effort to keep the tumor stable and save her eye site, Nora has been receiving chemotherapy every Tuesday at CHOP. Since there is no cure for NF1 Kennedy wanted to help fund the research to one day find a cure. Thank you to Mrs. Klimchak, Mrs. Thornton, Mrs. McNamee and Mrs. Berardocco for planning such a wonderful event. We wouldn’t let the wet weather dampen our spirits. Kennedy’s caring community raised over $1700 for this amazing cause! Thank you to everyone that supported this event.

Ring the Alarm for Kennedy Elementary School!!!
Kennedy School started a shoe drive after noting how we all were concerned for the victims affected by the recent natural disasters in our country (recent California wildfires, North Carolina storm, Nebraska, New Mexico, Florida, and Texas) - and wanted to do something to help. As a result, we started the Soles4Souls (S4S) Shoe Drive to donate shoes to be a part of the positive change in this world.
The project initially started in January of this year (2025) and was supposed to run for a month. However, mid-February, Mrs. Dupiche was reassigned to another building, but the students, staff, and parents continued to donate more and more shoes, so we decided to ride it out until April! And to our surprise, we collected a total of 229 pairs of shoes of all sorts!
The Kennedy School Family displayed extraordinary efforts, support, and commitment in this shoe drive. It is an amazing testament to the power of unity, compassion, and purpose! What began as a one-month initiative quickly grew into something far greater than we ever expected.
Kennedy School is a beautiful example of what we can accomplish when we put our hearts and minds together for a common good. There is power in serving with actions and truth, not just words.
We are so grateful for the success of this project. Even those community members who didn’t get a chance to donate participated by spreading the word and cheering us on.
We teach our students to be upstanders and make good choices. I believe the students at Kennedy School understand the power in being change agents in this world, and that simple acts of giving can leave a lasting and positive impact on someone’s life. Their actions reflected selflessness and a spirit of service.
