"Roosevelt School’s Day of Service was in full effect this year as our students were busy, busy, busy! The Day of Service for our students consisted of cleaning up our parks (Pony Tail and Memorial Park), Rock Painting as part of the front of school beautification project, delivering lunches to the nurses at St. Peter’s Children’s Hospital, decorating and delivering freshly potted flowers to our Roosevelt School community neighbors, and beautifying our school grounds by pulling weeds, planting flowers and decorated rocks and laying fresh mulch to make it pop! As if this weren’t enough, our biggest event took place in the afternoon: The Color Run! This FUN fundraiser raised over $3200 dollars! This along with our earlier fundraisers, brings our grand total of fundraising for the Day of Service to be $5,863 dollars! This will be split in half ($2931.50 each) to our two fundraiser recipients: The Ronald McDonald House and South Plainfield Social Services! Our students definitely learned that Doing Good really does make you FEEL GREAT!!!" - Mr. Fierra
On May 11th, 2024 students from Franklin, Roosevelt, Grant, and South Plainfield Middle School participated in the CJMEA Honors Chorus Festival. The choral students of our district shined and had a wonderful experience rehearsing and performing under two very esteemed conductors. It was a day full of growth for all involved and we are excited to have them bring back their knowledge to our choral ensembles in the district. Thank you to Ms. Vex, Ms. Blair, Ms. Maddolin, and Mrs. Haughwout for your time with the students involved in this program.

"Friday, May 3rd, marked an important date at Roosevelt School: Lunch Lady Appreciation Day! Roosevelt students sang songs, recited poetry, wrote letters, made cards, drew pictures, and finally presented our two amazing lunch ladies with Lunch Lady aprons signed by all of our students. Ms. Antoinetta and Ms. Dana play a very important role in our school and in the lives of our students. We couldn’t go a day without them!" - Mr. Fierra

On February 29, 2024, the Roosevelt Elementary School Student Council hosted a living wax museum in honor of Black History Month. The council members, led by advisors Ms. Hyun and Ms. Gwiazda, researched important figures in African American history and retold their stories to their classmates throughout the day. The “Play was the Thing” at Roosevelt School during our 3rd Annual Theater Week celebration. Over 150 students participated in this year’s show, which was a huge hit for student audiences (the show ran as an assembly during the day), as well as for parents and families (the show ran in the evening to a capacity crowd)! Talent!
Love was in the air on February 14th at Roosevelt School! Our Roosevelt students celebrated Valentine’s Day with delicious ice cream sundaes and plenty of fun games courtesy of our Roosevelt PTO and fantastic class moms!
The Winter Concert at Roosevelt School packed the house this year! The students did an amazing job and participated in full force with record numbers of students coming out for Chorus, Orchestra, and Band! Also Roosevelt’s own, Mrs. Celentano (AKA the Chorus Whisperer), reunites with members of the high school elite chorus who all had one thing in common: Not only did they all attend Roosevelt but they all had Mrs. Celentano in third grade!
Roosevelt’s Tiger Buck winners rejoice in the winner’s circle! While students in Ms. Soden’s and Ms. Ulloa’s classes got ready for their version of the Macy’s Day Parade, complete with their balloon floats!

The South Plainfield School District has been closely monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13, 2024. According to the latest predictions, rain is expected to start this evening, transitioning into snow between 5am-6am. Heavy snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are expected until 11 a.m., leading to a total accumulation of 5-8 inches. Unfortunately, this coincides with our morning commute, posing hazardous driving conditions. As a result, the South Plainfield School District will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13, 2024 to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff.
Please be advised, all sporting events and practices are being rescheduled, and coaches will be reaching out to individual team members with further updates.
