Hey 6th Graders — the big day is almost here!
On May 28th, we're heading to Fairview Lakes YMCA Camp in Newton, NJ for a day full of adventure! Get ready for team building, archery, canoeing, stream ecology, and even a stop at the gift shop. Lunch, dinner, and dessert are all taken care of — just bring your enthusiasm!
A few important things to keep in mind: the trip runs later than a typical school day, so plan accordingly. Students report at the usual time, and chaperones should be at the gym by 8:30 a.m. We leave at 8:45 a.m. and expect to be back around 8:30 p.m.
Cost & Payment:
Trip cost is $80 per student
Pay by check (made out to Grant School PTO) or online HERE (a small transaction fee applies online)
Payments and permission slips are due Friday, April 17th — don't forget!
Want to Chaperone? We'd love your help! Parents and guardians who want to join the fun should submit $160 (covering both you and your student) and fill out the required chaperone paperwork. Forms have been sent home with students.
What to pack: Check the weather for Newton, NJ! Last year the weather was cool and a little wet, so we had to layer up! Please be prepared to bring:
A rain jacket or poncho
An extra pair of socks
Comfortable shoes you don't mind getting muddy
On the day of the trip:
You'll get your group, bus number, and table assignment that morning.
Stick with your group all day!
Seating for meals is pre-assigned so everyone gets to meet someone new.
Permission slips and details have been sent home, with extra copies located in the Main Office. Questions? Reach out anytime — we're so excited for this one. It's going to be a great day for our sixth graders!
