Franklin School celebrates and remembers the legacy of Mrs. Pelton, a beloved kindergarten teacher and cherished colleague. Mrs. Pelton dedicated 40 years of her life to teaching at Franklin, inspiring countless students, teachers, and staff along the way. Today, balloons in Mrs. Pelton’s favorite color swayed gently outside her former classroom and in the garden dedicated to her, paying tribute to her impact on the school community. Mrs. Pelton will forever be remembered and loved by her Franklin School family. 💜

The South Plainfield School District has been closely monitoring the weather forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13, 2024. According to the latest predictions, rain is expected to start this evening, transitioning into snow between 5am-6am. Heavy snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are expected until 11 a.m., leading to a total accumulation of 5-8 inches. Unfortunately, this coincides with our morning commute, posing hazardous driving conditions. As a result, the South Plainfield School District will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, February 13, 2024 to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Please be advised, all sporting events and practices are being rescheduled, and coaches will be reaching out to individual team members with further updates. As always, we thank you for the strong partnership between the South Plainfield community and the South Plainfield School District. Stay safe and warm.

TGKC 2024
We have been closely monitoring the weather forecast throughout the day and while what will happen is still unknown at this time, the recent forecast is calling for a range of 3-5 inches of accumulated snow for South Plainfield and the surrounding areas tomorrow.   As of this evening the snow is predicted to begin at 5:00 a.m. and continue throughout the school day, making for a hazardous afternoon commute.   As a result of the accumulated snow predictions along with a concern with staffing within our transportation department the South Plainfield School District will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 19, 2024. All district activities, including sporting events and practices, are cancelled for the day.     Be safe.

In anticipation of predicted icy road conditions tomorrow morning, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, the South Plainfield School District will operate on a delayed opening schedule to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. The delayed opening will allow time for salting of Borough roads and prepare the schools for the students’ arrival. South Plainfield High School: start time 9:15 a.m. South Plainfield Middle School: start time 9:35 a.m. Grant School: start time 9:00 a.m. All Elementary Schools: start time 10:05 a.m. Preschool: start time 10:30 a.m. Additionally, transportation services will operate on a delayed schedule, and student breakfast and lunch will be served on an amended schedule. For any updates regarding after-school activities, athletic games, or practices, please check the district website throughout the school day. Please be advised that before care is canceled for tomorrow morning, January 17, 2024. We understand that the morning commute may pose challenges for our South Plainfield families. While we encourage you to drop off your children on time, we recognize that some delays may occur - take your time, your children will not be marked late. For our high school students driving to school, please prioritize safety- take your time, your well-being is our top priority. Be safe.
