The South Plainfield School District is preparing for the 2024/2025 Preschool Program registration process. We are excited to share with the school community that we are expanding our program and will be adding eight (8) additional classrooms to the Preschool Program next school year. The Leonard A. Tobias Administration Building is currently under renovation and will be ready in September to welcome our newest students to the district.
The South Plainfield School District will follow the same process as last year. Registration will open at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, at which time parents/guardians will be able to enter their child’s registration information and documentation online. Registration will remain open until the close of day, 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Please note, your child has the same chance of securing a place in the lottery regardless of when you begin the online registration, as long as the information is entered during the open registration period. Again, this is a preschool lottery, not all students who have been entered will secure a seat for the 2024/2025 school year.
The district has a total of 175 3yr/4yr old preschool seats available. As we welcome new preschool students, we are focused on keeping the students in their home districts. The current 3-year-old students in the program will remain in the Riley Preschool Annex for the 2024/2025 school year. All incoming students will be placed in the preschool program closest to their home school. Franklin Elementary School and Riley Elementary School students will be placed in the Riley Preschool Annex Building. Roosevelt Elementary School and Kennedy Elementary School students will be placed in the Leonard A. Tobias Administration Annex. The district has eight classrooms in each building to welcome our preschool students for the 2024/2025 school year.
Special Education students will be placed in the preschool program appropriate for their specific needs, therefore preschoolers with an individual education plan, IEP, do not need to register for the preschool lottery.
