Reading during the summer months can impact students’ motivation to read, as well as improve their fluency rate and vocabulary development. Also, involvement in a summer reading project may help students to maintain the reading skills learned during the school year.
For grades K-6, the district is working in collaboration with the South Plainfield Public Library Summer Reading Program. Students entering grades K-6 are encouraged to join this program. All incoming Middle School and High School students are to complete a REQUIRED summer reading assignment for September.
