Cancelling an exam
- Students may cancel an AP Exam up until March 15, 2023. However, the College Board charges a $40 fee for cancelling an AP Exam after November 15th. That $40 fee would be deducted from the refund that you would receive. In the case of an FRL exam fee, that student would be charged an additional $13.50 to make up the difference. Registration Process
- Students must answer all the required questions.
- Registration is not complete until the pdf confirmation page provided at the end is printed.
- When registering for your AP exam, if you are currently enrolled in the class, make sure to choose your teacher’s name for that exam.
- If you are not currently enrolled in the class, you should choose“Independent Study”
- It is strongly recommended that parents and students are both present while registering to ensure that the correct exam(s) are ordered.
- If you wish to take an exam for a course that is not offered at SPHS, you must speak to Ms. Lori Parisi, in the Information Center, to confirm that we can run the exam before registering.
Payment:
- There are two payment options: credit card/debit card or check/money order.
- If paying by credit/debit card, you will pay online, via Total Registration, when completing the registration.
- If paying by check/money order, after completing the registration, you must print a payment stub and mail this to Total Registration with your payment.
- No money will be accepted at the high school.
Things to Consider:
- The 23-24 AP Exam Schedule can be found at the following link: College Board Information
- Two Exams at the Same Time: There is an alternate exam for students who are scheduled to take two different exams at the same time. Please come see Ms. Lori Parisi, in the Information Center, immediatel if you fall into that category for more information as to how to register.
- Alternate Exam: There is an alternate exam for students who have an
excused absence (i.e., illness) on the day of the exam. However, College Board makes the final determination for granting an alternate exam to a student. Please see Ms. Lori Parisi, in the Information Center, if you feel that you qualify for a late test. Note: Athletic Events do not qualify for a late test. - If you do not plan on taking an AP exam, please see Ms. Lori Parisi, in the Information Center, immediately so we can change your status in AP Classroom.
- Free/Reduced Lunch Program:
- Fee reductions are available for students that receive free/reduced lunch (FRL). If you have not received these services but feel you may be eligible for a fee reduction, please speak to your guidance counselor for additional information regarding eligibility.
- The discounted exam prices for students qualifying for Free/Reduced Lunch are: $26.50 per AP Exam (half of the full price $53) if you are enrolled in the AP course this year. $53 if you wish to take an AP exam for an AP course that you are not currently enrolled in.
- For AP Seminar and Research, the cost is $50.50 (half of the full price, $101)
- Please review the following important notes regarding the FRL
Program:
- When signing up for exams, make sure to answer yes to the free/reduced lunch question if you feel you qualify.
- Students who may qualify for the FRL program MUST fill out and submit the appropriate paperwork prior to registering for their AP Exams. There is a review process that the application must go through before you can be approved for the College Board Fee Reduction. Students must pay the full price unless they have a qualifying application that they have completed for the current school year. If any student has a question about the FRL application, they should see their Guidance Counselor.
- Students should also be aware that the FRL application must be completed EACH SCHOOL YEAR before registering for AP Exams. Qualifying for the FRL program during the 22-23 school year does not give students access to the reduced prices. They must apply again for the 23-24 school year.
If you have any additional questions regarding registration or AP Exams, please contact Ms. Lori Parisi, AP Coordinator, at lparisi@spboe.org or at 908-912-5801 ext. 1680.
