Riley School's Character Education

Good Morning Riley Rock Stars and Parents!

Today starts our journey into learning about character education.

Character education allows us to learn skills like Respect and Perseverance; we use these skills to be super learners and super friends! Our first trait for September is ..... RESPONSIBILITY!

Students that demonstrate characteristics of the monthly character trait will be nominated by their teacher to potentially be a Student of the Month. Students of the Month will be announced in our monthly slideshow, as well as announced by Mrs. Valarezo in her morning message.

If you have not already, please join our counseling google classroom to access documents for parents as well as social-emotional resources for students.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out.

We look forward to seeing all our students use their rock star powers to be superstar friends!

Gratitude is one of many positive emotions. It's about focusing on what's good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have.

Gratitude is pausing to notice and appreciate the things that we often take for granted, like having a place to live, food, clean water, friends, family, even computer access.

May's Character Trait is Honesty!

Please click on link to the right Honesty Parent letter for a  character letter regarding ways to improve this skill at home. Honesty at Riley School is about being truthful in what you say and in what you do. Honesty includes telling the truth (not lying), not hiding the truth (deceiving), and acting in a way that is morally right (not stealing, cheating). Honesty is important in how we all work together in society. We are working every day to teach our students to be kind humans as well as diligent learners.
