  • Celebrating Diversity at South Plainfield High School

On May 27, 2016, South Plainfield High School presented the 27th Annual Cultural Heritage Day.   Cultural Heritage Day was started in 1990 by two former SPHS History teachers, Ms. Fran Flannery and Mr. Tony Barca. Sponsored by the school’s Jerseyan History Club, Cultural Heritage Day celebrates the diverse makeup of our schools’ population.

According to SPHS history teacher and Jerseyan History Club Advisor Ms. ToniAnn Fuschetto, at least 60 countries were represented by food, costumes, performances, and displays. According to Ms. Fuschetto, “The Jerseyan Club Executive Board has worked long and hard this year to ensure the success of the program. The goal of Cultural Heritage Day is to expose the students of South Plainfield High School to the “wonderfully unique differences and similarities across cultures and time.”
