Overview:
The Information Center provides a wide range of resources to students and staff. Students can use the Information Center to work on research papers, complete homework, check-out books, print items, read, meet with teachers for extra help, etc.
Library Hours:
The Information Center is open Monday-Friday from about 7:35-2:35. Students can use the library during the school day and before/after school.
Circulation:
The Information Center provides books and periodicals for student and faculty loan along with access to a wide variety of online databases and eBooks that may be accessed 24/7 through the Information Center website. Books from the regular collection and past issues of magazines may be borrowed for two weeks and are renewable. Students must check in at the Information Center kiosk upon arrival.
Online Databases and eBooks:
The Information Center has access to several different databases including Facts on File, World Book Online, EbscoHost, Gale Virtual Library, and many more. Select the Online Databases link on the left side to access these reputable sources. These databases house information that is timely, reliable, and written by professionals. Usernames for these database can be found on the Online Database page at the top. If a student does not know the school password, they can visit the Information Center to obtain it.
Overdue and Lost Materials:
Overdue notices are sent to the student through his/her homeroom teacher at the end of the year. If the material is not returned, a reminder will be inputted into Genesis. If the material continues to be overdue, the diploma for graduating seniors will be withheld. No fines are charged for overdue materials, but the replacement cost must be paid for lost material. The charge for a lost book is $5 for a paperback and $10 for a hardcover.
Periodicals:
Many full-text periodicals are available through the EbscoHost database. The Information Center also has a wide variety of magazines for both students and staff. Back issues of some print magazines are available for loan.
Returning Materials:
A book return slot is located in the front of the circulation desk for the return of all materials.

The mission of the South Plainfield High School Information Center is to support and promote the intellectual, social, and personal development of all students.
Goals of the Information Center:
Provide physical and online access to quality literary and informational resources in an inviting, nurturing, and safe environment
Promote an appreciation of reading that enables students to interpret meaning from various forms of literature
Provide instruction, learning strategies, and practice to help students become productive learners; and
Integrate the library program throughout every student’s education through collaboration and advocacy
