Riley Elementary School Halloween Parade, Parties and Festivities 2022

Dear Riley Families,

You are cordially invited to attend the Annual Halloween Parade at Riley School on Monday, October 31, 2022. The parade, weather permitting, will begin at 1:15 PM.  Students will exit the school from the Exit Door nearest their homeroom class and will walk on the sidewalk path that goes around the school and re-enter the school through the front doors.  Parents may watch the parade from the grassy areas alongside the sidewalk to give the students room to walk the parade route. Please do not stand on the sidewalks or next to the building as this will inhibit safe passage for the children.

IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE PARADE WILL BE CANCELED. Student costumes will still be welcomed. The students will parade around the hallways in the school, but no parents will be allowed in for the safety and security of the staff and studentsWith student safety as our guide, parent attendance at parties is limited to only the class parents who prearranged with the homeroom teachers.

Parking for the parade is available on the school side of Morris Avenue and Walter Street.  There is a large parking lot in the field, which you can enter from Walter Street. You may also find parking on the side streets of Hendricks & Warren.  There is also parking on Chambers Street on the opposite side of the street.  There will be NO PARKING in front of the school, in the school’s parking lot or in the Senior Housing Parking Lot.  Be careful not to block resident mailboxes. Carpooling is recommended!

Children are encouraged to bring costumes that they can put on independently. We have adult assistance in the building to handle dress up issues.

All visitors will enter through the Main Lobby Door and will need to show ID and sign in at the main office.   Classroom Parents may begin party preparations according to prior arrangements made with classroom teachers. Parties will take place after the parade.

Finally, please be certain that your child’s costume is safe, has nothing that will cause them to trip or fall, doesn’t block their vision and is non-violent in theme.  TOY & WEAPON Props such as guns, knives, swords, etc. are NOT ALLOWED IN THE SCHOOL.  Parents and visitors are asked not to wear masks.
