Dr. Frank Cocchiola, Jr.
The South Plainfield Board of Education approved a resolution to appoint Dr. Frank Cocchiola, Jr. as the Interim Assistant Superintendent of Schools effective January 3, 2011 until a full-time Assistant Superintendent is appointed. Dr. Cocchiola earned his B.S. in math-ed from Seton Hall University, his MA in Administration & Supervision at Montclair State University and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Fordham University. He is a 42-year veteran of the education profession, all of which were spent in the Wallington Public School District. While in Wallington, Dr. Cocchiola was a math teacher, supervisor and athletic director before assuming an elementary school principalship in 1978. Two years later he was named the Wallington Jr./Sr. High School principal and in 1990, the Superintendent of Schools, where he served for 20 years before retiring at the end of the 2009-10 school year. Dr. Cocchiola has been an adjunct professor at Caldwell college, and for the past four years at Felician College.
